2015 Civil War Travelogue

Welcome to my 2015 travelogue page, commemorating the fifth year of the Civil War Sesquicentennial! (Since these reports tend to be lengthy, they are often in separate HTML pages. Use the links just below to see all the finished reports.)

Here is a reminder about the reason I write these pages the way I do. They record my experiences and impressions of Civil War trips primarily for my future use. Thus, they sometimes make assumptions about things I already know and focus on insights that I receive. They are not general-purpose descriptions for people unfamiliar with the Civil War, although I do link to various Wikipedia articles throughout. Apologies about the quality of interior photographs—I don't take fancy cameras with big flashes to these events. If you would like to be notified of new travelogues, connect to me via Facebook.

Here are the trips I took in 2015:

• March 25–30: Travel to a variety of sites in Kentucky, including Lexington, Perryville, Munfordville, and a few Morgan's Raid sites, in conjunction with some other personal travel
• July 22–26: Chambersburg, The End of the War: Richmond, Petersburg, and Appomattox
• October 2–4: Mosby Conference, Gettysburg: The Second Day
• October 28–31: BGES, Mobile Bay
• November 14: Richmond Marathon (although I really did very little Civil War touring on this trip)

Here is a list of trips that I found intriguing, but could not arrange for logistical reasons:

• April 1–5: Pamplin Park, 1865 Campaign for Petersburg, Lee’s Retreat, and Appomattox
• June 3–7: Civil War Trust annual conference, Richmond, "The Road to Appomattox"
• November 29–December 3: BGES, A Tactical Walk of the Chickamauga Campaign
  
• December 3–6: BGES, A Walking Tour of the Siege of Chattanooga through Lookout Mountain
